Job Title: Security Officer Job Summary: The Security Officer is a critical member of the Colby College community, responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. This role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: * Conduct security patrols on foot and in vehicles to ensure the safety and security of campus facilities and personnel * Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and security breaches * Enforce College policies and procedures, including parking regulations and student conduct codes * Provide information and assistance to the campus community, including directions, event information, and general assistance * Collaborate with other departments, including Facilities, Public Safety, and Student Affairs, to ensure a cohesive and effective response to campus incidents Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education preferred * Additional training, certifications, or related experience in personal defense training, First Aid and CPR, First Responders, Investigation, Conflict Resolution, Law Enforcement, and Security Officers Training Academy preferred * Must present a neat, clean, and professional image * Well-developed public relations skills; ability to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment; work with members of a diverse community; and utilize diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive and confidential situations Working Conditions: The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to changing situations and priorities. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability. The Security Officer will be required to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
