Romanian Geospatial Linguist Specialist

Are you passionate about geospatial data and languages? Leidos is currently seeking a skilled Romanian Geospatial Linguist to join our team in the Washington D.C. Metro Area.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with expertise in foreign languages, romanization policies, and geographic names collection methodologies.
The successful candidate will have experience working with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and QGIS, and be proficient in Romanian at the ILR 2/2 level as delineated on the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT).
This is an exciting opportunity to work on maintaining the federal government's official repository of foreign geographic names information, the Geographic Names Database (GNDB), on behalf of the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (BGN), Foreign Names Committee (FNC).
In this role, you will analyze conflated information associated with Foundation feature data listed within the GNDB and other data repositories, while working closely with customer geographic names experts.
You will use BGN and customer guidance and policies to respond to questions concerning the proper and correct application of names, various romanization systems, and the treatment of descriptive information on map products.
This includes using FG Modernization Geographic Names Processing System (GNPS), charts, imagery, and geospatial tools to refine names information for use in all types of geospatial products and to respond to user questions.
Apart from these tasks, you will also be responsible for entering and maintaining data to update the GNDB, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of geographic names for the missions of the users.
If you have experience with native maps, secondary source maps, historic maps used for extraction and comparison, mapping imagery for stereo and mono extraction at various resolutions, we encourage you to apply for this position.

The salary for this position is approximately $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
