Position Overview

The Retirement Benefits Advisor I/II plays a crucial role in managing various responsibilities associated with the precise calculation of retirement benefits and service purchases. This position involves direct interaction with members, addressing inquiries regarding retirement benefits, and diligently researching to resolve any discrepancies in service credit information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with members to provide clear and accurate information regarding retirement benefits.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify and rectify discrepancies in service credit data.
  • Perform mathematical calculations related to retirement benefits and service purchases.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of retiree benefits.
  • Draft correspondence independently and maintain organized records of member interactions.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:

  • Two years of full-time paid experience in administrative, accounting, or recordkeeping roles involving public interaction.
  • Alternatively, completion of 60 semester units from an accredited institution, with specific coursework in relevant fields, combined with two years of clerical experience.
