Position Title: Transportation Specialist (requires passenger endorsement on driver's license)
Work Schedule: Part Time
Position Summary:
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for delivering safe and courteous transportation services while providing support to the Activity Director. This role includes overseeing vehicle pre-maintenance, maintenance, and repairs to ensure the longevity of the transportation fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
The following essential functions represent the primary duties of this position, which may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Operates the vehicle to transport residents to various destinations according to a predetermined schedule.
- Assists residents in safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Secures wheelchairs to restraining devices to ensure stability during transport.
- Adheres to safe driving practices at all times.
- Maintains cleanliness and services the vehicle with fuel and necessary lubricants, while coordinating maintenance and repair needs.
- Implements and monitors daily and weekly vehicle inspection and preventative maintenance protocols, maintaining accurate records.
- Supports the Activity Department in organizing and executing activities and programs as required.
- Collaborates with the Maintenance Department as needed.
- Submits daily travel expense reports to the business office.
- Maintains a clean driving record in accordance with company policies.
- Responds to emergency situations and provides basic First Aid as necessary.
- Identifies and reports potentially hazardous conditions.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a Passenger Endorsed License.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with one to three months of related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of safe, accident-free driving experience and knowledge of vehicle preventative maintenance programs is required.
- Ability to operate vehicles ranging from 7 to 16 passengers, including buses and limousines, as well as basic maintenance tools.
- Experience with emergency vehicle repairs, including tire changes and minor on-road maintenance.
- Familiarity with all streets within an 8-mile radius of the community.
