Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough analyses and evaluations of traffic systems, utilizing various data sources including surveys, blueprints, and GIS information to support project development and execution.
- Perform detailed inspections and assessments of existing and proposed traffic conditions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Innovate and design strategic improvements for intersections and corridors, collaborating with stakeholders to develop both immediate and long-term enhancement plans.
- Implement advanced modeling techniques and design strategies that prioritize safety and functionality for all users of the transportation network.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and planners to manage multiple projects, ensuring adherence to specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze site characteristics and provide expert guidance on traffic studies, capacity evaluations, and signal system designs to optimize roadway efficiency.
- Engage with developers to assess the impact of new projects on existing transportation systems and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Lead studies and reviews to evaluate transportation systems and recommend safety improvements based on comprehensive analyses.
- Create visual data representations and reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
- Maintain rigorous quality control standards in all measurements and reporting processes.
- Support the development of medium-sized projects and mentor junior engineers.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and presentations that articulate research findings and design recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout project execution.
- Foster professional relationships with regulatory agencies and clients, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in traffic engineering practices and methodologies.
- Contribute to federally and state-funded transportation improvement projects through teamwork and collaboration.
- Uphold ethical standards and responsible decision-making in all aspects of work.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and design.
- EIT certification is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of traffic signal design principles.
- Proficient in traffic engineering practices, project management, and related communication systems.
- Familiarity with roadway construction laws and compliance practices.
- Strong analytical skills for technical computations and regulatory comparisons.
- Experience managing small to mid-level projects, including tracking project hours and expenses.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
- Strong self-management abilities with attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in technical writing and relevant software applications.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
- Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules and occasional travel.
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- CT PE License is preferred.
- Experience in managing small to mid-size projects.
