About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Affairs Manager to join our team at the East Bay Regional Park District. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for promoting our parklands, programs, and image through various community relations and public information programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement public information and media relations strategies to promote the District's initiatives and programs.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all public information, including signage, exhibits, and graphic branding.
  • Manage and administer the operations and activities of all media relations, including website and social media platforms, special campaigns, and other media events.
  • Provide marketing, digital, and print media support District-wide.
  • Coordinate with District divisions, including the Government Affairs department, to deliver the District's strategic planning initiatives.
  • Manage assigned programs through coordinated leadership, ensuring the Division meets specifically assigned ongoing and annual operational and financial objectives.
  • Assume overall responsibility for managing a moderate Operational and Capital Budget and develop, justify, and defend proposed budget submissions.
  • Resolve internal problems and issues and coordinate with other District organizations on broader problems and issues.
  • Serve as the District's liaison to the Regional Parks Foundation, a separate IRS designated non-profit organization.
  • Represent the District with external governmental agencies, elected officials, and serve on various boards and committees on matters related to public affairs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, communications, journalism, media or public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Eight years' experience in public, community, governmental, and/or media relations, including three years of experience at the senior management level.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License is a condition of initial and continued employment in this classification.
