OVERVIEW:

The primary mission of Southeastern College is to deliver specialized educational services that cater to community requirements. The role of faculty members is to engage learners, promote education, exemplify professionalism, and ultimately produce proficiently trained individuals ready for their careers.

Education and Training: Faculty members are tasked with delivering courses that are integral to standard academic programs. The Radiologic Technology Educator is accountable for ensuring a high-quality educational experience for students enrolled in their courses and programs at the campus level. All Radiologic Technology Educators should possess, at a minimum:

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Four years of relevant experience in the field
  • ARRT certification

BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS: Faculty and instructional staff are responsible for utilizing their expertise to provide educational services to students through:

  • Conducting course lectures
  • Encouraging student participation
  • Providing individualized support to students
  • Evaluating students and offering constructive feedback

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Course Preparation:

  • Review Course Control Document (CCD)
  • Develop syllabus
  • Create lesson plans
  • Design exams, quizzes, and assignments
  • Coordinate with library and bookstore for material availability

Course Delivery:

  • Administer pre-tests and post-tests
  • Deliver lectures and facilitate laboratory sessions
  • Grade assignments and examinations
  • Provide progress reports and mid-term evaluations
  • Maintain a grade book
  • Enforce institutional policies (attendance, dress code, etc.)

Monitoring Progress and Attendance:

  • Track student progress and follow up as necessary
  • Record daily attendance and uphold attendance policies
  • Contact students who miss classes
  • Report attendance concerns to the Dean

Student Advising:

  • Address student inquiries
  • Be available for individual assistance and tutoring

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain grade books
  • Adhere to departmental grading standards
  • Provide weekly reports to the Dean
  • Issue mid-term evaluations to students
  • Submit final grades

Additional Responsibilities for Faculty:

  • Monitor equipment and supply requirements
  • Maintain classroom environment
  • Keep relevant licenses and certifications current
  • Seek approved substitutes in case of absence
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies
  • Collaborate with Dean and other faculty on retention strategies

Additional Responsibilities for Full-time Faculty:

  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinators
  • Engage in committees and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Prepare for and participate in convocations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands are consistent with those required in a professional office environment and higher education teaching setting: communicating with colleagues, presenting to a classroom of students (including virtual settings), demonstrating procedures, and navigating between classes and offices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Professional office environment: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Faculty members are responsible for delivering quality educational services. This involves engaging students, fostering learning, exemplifying professionalism, and ultimately producing well-trained individuals prepared for their careers. This includes collaboration with the Dean, Program Coordinators, and other faculty to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of assigned courses.

Faculty must possess the minimum educational qualifications and relevant expertise in their specific discipline related to the program or courses they teach. Additionally, faculty should have knowledge of:

  • Academic instruction and course delivery
  • Adult learning principles
  • Course and curriculum development

Skills:

  • Classroom management and facilitating discussions among diverse student populations
  • Planning and organizing course delivery

Experience:

Experience in an academic setting, particularly in a career college environment, is highly valued. Relevant work experience includes:

  • Academic teaching in higher education
  • Career college teaching or management
  • Professional or executive education administration
