Educational Support Professional

Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Support Professional to join our team.

In this role, you will work closely with teachers and students to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting students with their academic progress, providing individualized support, and contributing to the overall success of the classroom.

  • Provide direct instructional support to students under the guidance of the teacher. This may involve working one-on-one or in small groups, reinforcing concepts, and helping students complete assignments.
  • Assist with classroom management tasks. This could include supervising student behavior, organizing materials, and preparing the learning environment for instruction.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. You will foster a welcoming and supportive space where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned. These may include lunchroom supervision, recess duty, or playground monitoring.
  • Operate instructional and assistive technology equipment under the direction of the teacher. This could involve using computers, tablets, or other devices to support student learning.
  • Participate in professional development activities. You will have opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge through district-provided training programs.

Qualifications:

  • A passing score on the Para Pro Test or an equivalent state-approved assessment program, or a minimum of 48 college credits or an Associate Degree.
  • A willingness to accept direction and collaborate effectively with all staff members.
  • Prior experience working with children in a school or similar setting is preferred.
  • Physical ability to move within classrooms, buildings, and up and down stairs. You must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds, and assist with lifting heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with support as needed. You will also need the ability to climb stairs, kneel, and move easily on and off floor mats.
  • Excellent judgment, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with others. You must be able to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate sensitivity to student needs, and possess traits such as resourcefulness, thoroughness, initiative, patience, courtesy, dependability, and enthusiasm.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize assistive technology.
  • Familiarity with online platforms such as Google Meets and Google Classroom for both in-person and virtual instruction.
  • Bilingual skills are highly preferred.
