About the Role:

The Resource Specialist plays a vital role in connecting individuals and families facing crises with essential resources and support. This position requires strong assessment skills to identify individual needs and strengths, enabling the development of personalized service plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with participants to coordinate their service plans and provide ongoing support to achieve identified goals.
  • Connect individuals and families with community resources that align with their specific needs and aspirations.
  • Evaluate and provide direct financial assistance (rent, utilities, or other essential areas) based on team approval and Family Development Services Manager guidelines.
  • Assist participants in determining eligibility for public benefits and guide them through the application process.
  • Screen and refer individuals to appropriate housing programs, such as The Inn Between, Boulder County Housing and Human Services, Housing Stabilization Program, and Home Steady, among others.
  • Identify any unmet participant needs and distribute assistance according to OUR Center policies and Resource Specialist guidelines.
  • Accurately record intake information, eligibility data, and services provided in the case management database (BCC).
  • Participate actively in internal and external meetings as required.
  • Collaborate closely with various community partners, including SVVSD and Boulder County Housing and Human Services.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the local community landscape and resources.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all privacy laws and regulations regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Qualifications:

  • A genuine commitment to OUR Center's mission, vision, and values.
  • An undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Development, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of postsecondary education and professional experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with challenging participants while de-escalating difficult situations.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to work alongside diverse individuals.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using case management databases and technology tools.
