Manager of Quantitative Audits at Truist Financial

The Manager of Quantitative Audits is responsible for overseeing intricate technical audit evaluations aimed at identifying and mitigating risks associated with both financial and non-financial models, as well as other quantitative instruments utilized at Truist Financial.

  • Direct the execution of technical model validation assessments by the Truist Model Risk Management Technical Review Team, which includes:

a. Conducting thorough validation evaluations.

b. Reviewing validations to ensure consistency with the conclusions drawn by the Model Risk Management Team (MRM) at Truist Financial.

c. Analyzing methodology, implementation, and the appropriateness for use of models.

d. Evaluating various model components based on their intended application and the scope of the audit project.

  • Foster relationships with Model Risk Management, Model Development, and Model Owners while collaborating with seasoned Model Quantitative Auditors across the first and second lines of defense.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of Truist's model risk management by:

a. Proposing improvements to model risk management systems and processes.

b. Demonstrating a solid understanding of the organization, operations, policies, and procedures related to the utilization and management of models.

c. Providing feedback to management regarding the implementation of new model systems and associated processes, as well as modifications to existing model systems, standards, and procedures.

  • Develop and strengthen expertise in complex modeling concepts, broaden knowledge of auditing principles and risk management practices, and pursue ongoing education and potential additional professional certifications.
  • Collaborate with various audit delivery teams and offer subject matter expertise on models employed by relevant business lines.
  • Maintain the necessary knowledge and experience to support audit delivery teams in assessing Truist's compliance with regulatory guidance on model risk governance and oversight for different model types.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members to promote goal achievement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on Quantitative or Financial Analytics.

6+ years of technical model experience, including participation in a model validation team, model development team, or equivalent audit technical review team.

  • Proven proficiency in one or more financial modeling methodologies, statistical and algorithmic methods in financial modeling, independent work skills, programming languages such as R, Python, or C++, database management tools like SAS and/or SQL, analytical capabilities, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Technical model experience in a major banking institution, general auditing skills, and broad knowledge of finance and accounting concepts in the banking and financial services sector.
  • Prior exposure to technical model reviews, familiarity with financial modeling methodologies, programming languages, and database management tools.
