Audit Manager

RSM is seeking a Manager to become part of our assurance practice focused on Life Sciences. As a member of this specialized team, you will have the chance to engage in projects across various RSM offices located in key biotech regions nationwide. You will gain insights into a diverse array of entities within the sector, from firms in the clinical research and development phase to established public biopharmaceutical companies. Typical accounting challenges in this field include collaboration and licensing agreements, intricate debt and equity transactions, and internal controls over financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely, high-quality client service that meets or surpasses client expectations, including overseeing the auditing of all necessary financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables.
  • Engage in public market transactions such as Form S-1, Form S-3, Form F-4, etc.
  • Evaluate risks and design as well as communicate audit procedures to engagement teams.
  • Familiarize yourself with and apply RSM's Global Audit Methodology.
  • Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff members.
  • Recognize the skill sets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors, monitoring and reviewing their work products while providing constructive feedback throughout the process.
  • Identify technical accounting issues early and assess their impact on financial statements; collaborate with firm specialists as necessary.
  • Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams, facilitating fieldwork by monitoring productivity and adherence to work plan schedules for each assignment.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the year to understand the implications of significant developments in their business and assess their impact on current audit engagements.
  • Foster the development of others within the Firm by providing training, career development advice, or participating in other Firm initiatives.
  • Actively engage with industry publications and share relevant insights with clients as appropriate.
  • Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as they arise.
  • Understand RSM's service lines and discuss opportunities for valuable introductions to other firm services with client management.
  • Develop strategies to leverage external relationships with various Centers of Influence to drive business growth.
  • Oversee project profitability.
  • Ensure ongoing professional development through continuous education.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments affecting GAAP, SEC reporting, and the Firm's standards and policies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the year, depending on client needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA or CA certification.
  • Over 5 years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and mentoring associates.
  • Strong understanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and FASB regulations.
  • A demonstrated history of building profitable, sustainable client relationships.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a team lead or in-charge role overseeing staff on multiple engagements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience auditing life science companies and related organizations.
  • A successful track record of directing and deploying staff and senior associates on multiple, simultaneous engagements.
  • Familiarity with audit services, including knowledge of SEC and PCAOB regulations.

Compensation Range: $74,900 - $141,900. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
