We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse III to join our team at San Antonio State Hospital. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing complex bedside nursing care to patients in a 75-bed hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care, interpret and explain health laws and regulations, and organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and the delivery of health services.
- Work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, and provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
- Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications, and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Participate in emergency preparedness, safety functions, and infection control activities for the unit, and assist with patient rehabilitative care and patient or patient-related transportation needs when necessary.
- Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
- Graduation from a Nursing Program accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Three (3) years of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital, or healthcare facility.
- Employees must comply with all DSHS policies, including immunizations, skin testing, and personal protective equipment.
- Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks.
- Military occupation(s) that relate to the initial selection criteria and registration or licensure requirements for this position may include, but not limited to: 68C, 66N/P/W, 290X, 46FX, 46NX, 46SX.
