Medical Technician III

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Technician III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Medical Technician III, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care to our patients, working collaboratively with medical staff to administer therapeutic programs, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide age-appropriate patient care, including bathing, bed baths, shaving, and hygiene maintenance.
- Assist patients with mobility and positioning, providing support during ambulation and transfers.
- Administer personal care tasks, such as lifting, feeding, and using commodes and bedpans.
- Take patients' vital signs and accurately record the results.
- Collect and transport lab specimens as necessary.
- Operate therapeutic equipment and provide guidance during rehabilitative therapies.
- Collaborate with patients to support and encourage their participation in rehabilitative exercises.
- Assist medical providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing patient care equipment.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.
- Dispose of medical waste according to established guidelines.
- Participate in educational requirements, including maintaining up-to-date certifications and adhering to company policies and industry standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to guidelines set by The Joint Commission, CMS, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle operations, passenger, equipment, and supply loading and unloading methods, traffic regulations, and the maintenance of motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and objectives.
- Knowledge and ability to perform basic supportive patient care in an age-appropriate manner and assist nursing and medical personnel with prescribed treatments.
- Knowledge of physical, emotional, and age-related needs of patients.
- Ability to transport and transfer patients using assistive devices.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, carry out written and verbal instructions, and establish positive therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and state and federal regulations pertaining to healthcare and accreditation standards.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information.
