Overview:
In light of current circumstances, the start date for selected candidates may be postponed until it is safe to commence work at the designated location. During this period, remote work options are available to the maximum extent possible.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will serve as a technical authority overseeing compliance with flight testing protocols for type certification, focusing on avionics, propulsion, and mechanical/electrical systems. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring uniform application of regulations, national policies, and procedures related to flight testing and airworthiness.
- Delivering technical presentations to manufacturers and certification authorities.
- Acting as a senior technical representative for the FAA.
- Participating in various certification and safety review boards.
- Maintaining high levels of pilot proficiency in assigned aircraft categories.
- Conducting flight tests and evaluating engineering data for compliance with airworthiness standards.
- Recommending enhancements to internal and external certification processes.
Supervision and Collaboration:
The incumbent will work under general supervision, with the autonomy to exercise independent judgment in technical matters. Collaboration with management will be essential for problem-solving and ensuring quality outcomes.
Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific licensing and certification requirements, including:
- Possession of appropriate FAA pilot certificates and/or military ratings.
- Meeting minimum flight hour requirements.
- Holding a valid first or second-class medical certificate.
Conditions of Employment:
All candidates must be U.S. citizens and comply with selective service registration. Drug testing and submission of required documentation are mandatory.
This position requires a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance in aviation operations.
