I. Position Overview:

The PE Specialist will provide onsite assistance for the TBA Smart Factory's manufacturing execution system, focusing on new plant setups, PLC interface development, and continuous system support.

This role involves assembling, troubleshooting, and installing complete machines and systems efficiently to fulfill factory and customer specifications.

II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Deliver technical guidance and consultation for the implementation of the TBA Regional manufacturing execution system (TBA MES).

B. Plan, organize, and schedule all stages of the machine assembly process.

C. Assemble equipment according to specified drawings, CAD designs, or verbal instructions.

D. Validate all assembled machinery through internal testing and plant approval.

E. Assist with modifications or changes to existing equipment.

F. Provide training to plant staff upon completion of machine installation.

G. Support activities related to repair issues as needed.

H. Supply documentation such as Machine Bill of Materials (BOM), spare parts lists, and other requested materials for service and repair.

I. Develop custom extensions that interface with TBA MES to enhance production processes, including connections with PLCs, Kepware, and other standard systems.

J. Offer frontline support for technical challenges associated with production engineering.

K. Foster positive working relationships with all internal customers and support groups.

L. Collaborate with customers to identify improvement opportunities, gather requirements, and prioritize tasks.

M. Work with Engineering, business, and IT teams across TBAGC to discover opportunities for process enhancements.

III. Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:
  • Over six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in implementing and maintaining manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Two (2) years of experience in the Automotive Industry and UBE equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining injection tooling and injection molding machines up to 2,000 tons.
  • Two (2) years of software development experience is preferred.

Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial technology.
  • Comprehensive understanding of company products, trade terminology, maintenance and repair operations, manufacturing processes, and machine operation.
  • In-depth knowledge of company policies and procedures regarding supervision, inventory controls, and procurement.
  • Ability to facilitate problem-solving and resolution effectively.
  • Proficient in diagnosing issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Capability to work within a dynamic team and manage demanding customer expectations.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple departments and prioritizing tasks.
  • Flexibility to be on-call for abnormal conditions.
  • Willingness to work fixed or rotating shifts, including overtime as needed.
  • Ability to adjust skills and resources to meet unforeseen demands or challenges.
  • Competence in implementing safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency plans for assigned areas.
  • Skill in precision mechanical assembly of large, custom machinery.
  • Familiarity with the Toyota Production System and engineering principles for machine assembly.
  • Experience interfacing with electrical personnel regarding electrical and programming matters.
  • Knowledge of operational sequences, new processes, and machine startup instructions.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning abilities to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in reading component, assembly, and equipment drawings, including GD&T.
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience managing complex, long-term projects.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently and exercise good judgment in a team setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from various departments and locations.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, including Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley controllers.

Language Proficiency:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese is advantageous but not mandatory.

Technical Skills:
  • Solid understanding of information systems and their impact on processes and controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, Outlook, Internet, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with Plant Engineering (PE) related PLC software.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Experience with CATIA is preferred.

Work Environment:
Office:
Open office setting with moderate noise levels.

Plant:
Various manufacturing environments including:
  • Standard automotive plant with moderate noise levels.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and hearing protection may be required in designated areas.

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods is necessary.

While performing job duties, the team member must be able to talk, hear, and see (with visual acuity).

Performance requires mental alertness and sustained attention to departmental workflow, operational efficiency, equipment adjustments, and team member output.

Physical ability to inspect, adjust, and operate machinery is required. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods throughout the plant. Occasional climbing, stooping, or bending may be necessary near tooling and equipment. The role may require lifting up to 30-50 pounds (with or without assistance).
