The PE Specialist for Smart Factory will deliver onsite assistance for the TBA Smart Factory's manufacturing execution system. This includes tasks such as implementing new plants, developing PLC interfaces, and providing ongoing system support.
The role involves assembling, troubleshooting, and installing complete machines and systems efficiently to satisfy factory and customer demands.II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Offer technical guidance and consultation for new implementations of the TBA Regional manufacturing execution system (TBA MES).
B. Organize, schedule, and oversee all stages of the machine assembly process.
C. Assemble all necessary equipment according to specified drawings, CAD, or verbal instructions.
D. Validate all assembled equipment through internal testing and plant approval.
E. Assist with internal modifications or changes to existing machinery.
F. Provide training to plant staff upon completion of machine installation.
G. Support activities related to repair issues as needed.
H. Supply machine bill of materials (BOM), spare parts, and other documentation for service and repair requests.
I. Develop custom extensions that interface with TBA MES to enhance production processes, including integration with PLCs, Kepware, and other standard systems.
J. Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues associated with production engineering.
K. Foster positive working relationships with all internal customers and support groups.
L. Collaborate with customers to identify improvement opportunities, gather requirements, and assist in prioritizing tasks.
M. Work with Engineering, business, and IT teams across TBAGC to identify opportunities for enhancing existing processes.
III. Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
- Over six (6) years of relevant experience.
- Five (5) years of experience in implementing and maintaining manufacturing execution systems (MES).
- - 2 years of experience in the Automotive Industry and UBE equipment is preferred.
- Experience in maintaining injection tooling and injection molding machines up to 2,000 tons.
- - 2 years of software development experience is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient knowledge of industrial technology.
- Comprehensive understanding of company products, trade terminology, maintenance and repair operations, manufacturing processes, and machine operation.
- Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures related to supervision, inventory control, and procurement.

- Capability to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, multicultural work setting.

- Willingness to work fixed or rotating shifts, including overtime as needed.
- Ability to adjust skills and resources to meet unforeseen demands.
- Capability to implement plans to maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency in assigned areas.
- Proficiency in precision mechanical assembly of large, custom machinery.
- Familiarity with the Toyota Production System and engineering skills for machine assembly.
- Interface with electrical personnel regarding electrical and programming matters.
- Knowledge of operational sequences, new processes, and machine start-up instructions.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in reading component, assembly, and equipment drawings, including GD&T.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to manage complex, long-term projects independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well with individuals from various departments and locations.
- Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
- Proficiency in PLC Programming, including Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley, and other controllers.
Language Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese is advantageous but not mandatory.
Computer Skills:
- Solid understanding of information systems and their impact on processes and controls.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, Outlook, Internet, Oracle, etc.).
- Familiarity with Plant Engineering (PE) related PLC software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Experience with CATIA is preferred.
Work Environment:
Office:
Open office environment with moderate noise levels.
Plant:
Various manufacturing environments.
- Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise levels.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and hearing protection may be required in designated areas.
Travel:
Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods is necessary.
The role requires talking, hearing, and seeing (with visual acuity).
Performance demands mental alertness and sustained attention to workflow, operational efficiency, machine adjustments, and team output.
Physical ability to inspect, adjust, and operate equipment is essential. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods throughout the plant. Occasionally climbing, stooping, or bending near tooling and equipment may be required. Lifting up to 30-50 pounds may also be necessary (with or without assistance).
