I. Position Overview:

The PE Specialist will deliver onsite assistance for the TBA Smart Factory's manufacturing execution system. This includes tasks such as implementing new facilities, developing PLC interfaces, and providing continuous system support.

The role involves assembling, troubleshooting, and installing complete machinery and systems efficiently to fulfill factory and client expectations.

II. Key Responsibilities:
A. Offer technical guidance and consultation for new TBA Regional manufacturing execution system (TBA MES) implementations.

B. Plan, organize, and manage all stages of the machine assembly process.

C. Assemble all associated equipment according to specified drawings, CAD, or verbal instructions.

D. Validate all assembled machinery through internal testing and plant approval.

E. Assist with internal modifications or updates to existing equipment.

F. Provide training to plant staff following the completion of machinery installation.

G. Support any necessary activities to resolve repair issues.

H. Supply the machine bill of materials (BOM), spare parts, and other required documentation for service and repairs.

I. Develop custom extensions that interface with TBA MES to enhance production processes, including connections with PLCs, Kepware, and other standard PE systems.

J. Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues related to production engineering.

K. Maintain positive working relationships with all internal customers and support groups within TBWK.

L. Collaborate with customers to identify improvement opportunities, gather requirements, and assist in prioritizing tasks.

M. Work alongside Engineering, business, and IT teams throughout TBAGC to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing existing processes.

III. Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:
  • Over six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in implementing and maintaining manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • - 2 years of experience in the Automotive Industry and UBE equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining injection tooling and injection molding machines up to 2,000 tons.
  • - 2 years of software development experience is preferred.

Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of industrial technology.
  • Thorough understanding of company products, trade terminology, maintenance and repair operations, manufacturing processes, and machine/equipment operation.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the company's policies and procedures for supervision, inventory controls, and purchased goods.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate problem-solving and resolution.
  • Ability to diagnose problems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work with a dynamic team and demanding customers.

  • Must maintain on-call flexibility to manage abnormal conditions.

  • Ability to implement plans to maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency in assigned areas.
  • Proficient in precision mechanical assembly of large, custom machine tools.
  • Ability to utilize the Toyota Production System and engineering skills for machine building functions.
  • Interface with electrical personnel regarding electrical and programming issues.
  • Familiarity with sequences of operations, new processes, and machine start-up instructions.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to read component, assembly, and equipment drawings and understand GD&T.
  • Hands-on self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage complex, long-term projects.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Active listener with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficient in PLC Programming, including Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley, and other Controllers.

Language Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese is a plus but not required.

Computer Skills:
  • Solid understanding of information systems and their impact on processes and controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, Outlook, Internet, Oracle, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Plant Engineering (PE) related Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with CATIA is preferred.

Work Environment:
Office:
Open office environment with a moderate noise level.

Plant:
Various manufacturing environments, including:
  • Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, and hearing protection may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.

Travel:
Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time is required.

Physical Demands:
Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods is necessary.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member must be able to talk, hear, and see (with visual acuity).

Performance requires mental alertness and sustained attention to departmental workflow, operational efficiency, machine adjustments, and team member output.

The role also requires physical capability to inspect, adjust, and operate equipment, including walking, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods. Occasionally, climbing, stooping, or bending near tooling and equipment may be necessary. Lifting up to 30-50 pounds may be required (with or without assistance).
