Job Overview

Become an integral part of Sherman Associates, where we are dedicated to Building Communities and Enriching Neighborhoods. We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Maintenance Technician II to support our operations in affordable housing.

Work Schedule

This position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, light carpentry, painting, and landscaping.
  • Address open work orders and fulfill resident requests within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Prepare and turn over vacated apartment units promptly, ensuring thorough cleaning, painting, and repairs.
  • Assist in scheduling and executing preventive maintenance for buildings and equipment.
  • Conduct hands-on repairs and maintenance tasks, focusing on more complex operations as needed.
  • Regularly inspect property to ensure compliance with resident rules and maintain cleanliness and order.
  • Work during the last and first days of each month until all responsibilities are completed; overtime may be necessary.
  • Diagnose issues, replace or repair components, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment effectively.
  • Maintain the exterior grounds and interior common areas in a presentable condition.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with completion of a craft apprenticeship, or equivalent education and maintenance experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in maintenance or related fields, preferably in residential or commercial real estate.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Possession of a special boilers license or willingness to obtain one, if required.
  • Must provide personal hand tools.
  • Ability to run errands for maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with tenants and vendors.
