The Parts Receiving Specialist is accountable for inspecting and verifying the accuracy of parts and materials delivered by suppliers. This role ensures that the contents of shipments align with purchase orders, thereby guaranteeing the correct items are received. The position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently. A valid driver's license with a clean record is necessary for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unload and unpack incoming shipments, prioritizing air freight packages.
- Inspect parts for any defects or shortages, confirming the accuracy of received items against purchase orders, and documenting quantities received.
- Distribute items according to the routing specified in purchase orders.
- Repackage parts for private labeling, generating and affixing barcode labels as needed.
- Organize and stock received parts into designated bins, ensuring new items are properly cataloged in the system.
- Identify and rectify receiving errors, completing discrepancy reports for vendor review.
- Report inventory discrepancies to the materials manager for further action.
- Operate forklifts and hoists as required.
- Review engineering specifications for received materials.
- Complete receiving inspection records when necessary.
- Determine appropriate sample sizes based on part categories.
- Measure and inspect parts against engineering specifications, noting actual measurements and acceptance criteria.
- Assess whether parts pass or fail inspection, providing detailed comments on the inspection records.
- Segregate non-conforming materials, tagging them appropriately and forwarding inspection records for further disposition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to read and distinguish various part numbers.
- Proficient in safely operating forklifts and hoists.
- Strong basic mathematical skills.
- Effective oral and written communication abilities.
- Analytical skills for resolving straightforward problems.
- Capability to comprehend and follow job-related procedures and documentation.
- Basic organizational and typing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Preferred experience in parts receiving within the last year.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting items up to 70 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The position is based in a warehouse setting, with occasional outdoor exposure. Standard office equipment and warehouse tools will be utilized.
