Position Overview
The Natural Resources Section is tasked with representing numerous federal agencies in complex legal matters across various courts, including federal district courts and state courts. This role involves engaging in intricate litigation concerning over 80 statutes related to natural resources, environmental regulations, and cultural preservation.

Key Responsibilities
Attorneys in this section manage a diverse array of cases that encompass:

  • The management and protection of national parks, forests, and wildlife reserves.
  • Defense of initiatives promoting renewable energy.
  • Oversight of critical federal programs, including those related to military readiness and energy policy.
  • Original actions in the U.S. Supreme Court regarding boundary disputes and water allocation.
  • Real property claims associated with the Just Compensation Clause of the Fifth Amendment.
  • Engagement with Native American tribes concerning trust relationships.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in civil litigation, demonstrating proficiency in pre-trial discovery, oral argumentation, and witness examination. A strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to quickly grasp complex facts and legal principles are essential.

Collaboration and Mentorship

Daily Activities
Responsibilities include:
