Daily Duties
On a typical day, attorneys will:

  • Address case management challenges.
  • Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel.
  • Draft motions and legal briefs.
  • Conduct depositions and prepare for trial.
  • Present oral arguments and oversee trial proceedings.

Our attorneys work closely with agency staff and expert witnesses, often requiring site visits to unique natural resources.

Professional Development
We prioritize the growth of our attorneys, offering robust training and opportunities to engage in substantive legal work early in their careers. Within the first year, attorneys are encouraged to draft briefs, argue motions, and take depositions, with trial participation typically available within two years.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar, and possess a keen interest in federal litigation. Judicial clerkship experience and familiarity with civil litigation are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is as follows:

  • GS-14: $139,395 - $181,216
  • GS-15: $163,964 - $191,900
