Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Tax Specialist to join our team at TD Bank. As a key member of our payroll operations team, you will be responsible for processing tax and general ledger functions in compliance with bank policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll tax and general ledger activities in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile quarterly tax information and work with tax agency representatives to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Research tax tracers and notices, and coordinate with state personnel and payroll vendors to resolve escalated issues.
  • Generate reports as needed, including W-2s and other reports required by regulation.
  • Ensure accuracy of reports and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Support acquisition activity, including setting up location codes, notifying state agencies, and auditing reports.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of related experience in payroll processing and tax compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processing practices and applicable laws.
  • Payroll tax analysis experience and solid basic accounting skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, on financial matters.
  • Experience with in-house Payroll HRI System, preferably PeopleSoft, and multi-state tax service or outsourcing service to third-party providers.
