Job Description

The Penn State University Talent Acquisition is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, diagnosing, and correcting network troubles and performance issues. You will also analyze network traffic, ensure proper operation of new network services, and assist in the development and acquisition of network automation for the University Enterprise Network (UEN) and Data Center Network (DCN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement network solutions to meet the needs of the University community
  • Analyze network traffic and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure proper operation of new network services and troubleshoot issues
  • Assist in the development and acquisition of network automation for the UEN and DCN
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve common goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Industry standard network certifications preferred
  • Experience with network automation, enterprise LANs, authentication methods, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Layer 3 switching
  • Experience with network monitoring applications and system administration of virtual machines
  • Moderate knowledge of data manipulation via structured queries and regular expressions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Brocade VDX/Juniper product line; IP fabrics, EVPN, VXLAN, firewall administration; Python scripting and Ansible
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, detail oriented, well organized, and a self-starter with the ability to work with diverse teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
What We Offer

The salary range for this position is $76,100.00 - $115,100.00. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 403(b) retirement plan. We also offer flexible work arrangements, including remote work options.
