Job Description

QED Systems, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Engineer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to support our customer, Product Director (PD) Aerostats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Strategy Development: Collaborate with customers to develop and implement comprehensive test strategies for new and existing Aerostat systems, sensors, and payloads, including Quick Reaction Capabilities (QRCs) and Programs of Record.
  • System Integration: Facilitate system hardware-software-network integration, ensuring Aerostat systems meet operational requirements.
  • Verification & Validation: Define standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of Aerostat systems and their payloads.
  • Risk Management: Identify and track risks associated with integration and validation of Aerostat systems, proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Interfacing: Act as a liaison with outside suppliers in establishing or modifying specifications for Aerostat-related purchased items.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain system integration and test plans specific to Aerostat systems, ensuring thorough documentation of lessons learned and test discipline robustness.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, facilitating working groups and technical interchanges to support program objectives.
  • Acquisition Lifecycle Support: Contribute to the development and review of Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documents, including Initial Capabilities Document (ICD), Capability Development Document (CDD), and Capability Production Document (CPD).

Requirements:

  • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of test engineering concepts applied to Army acquisition support, preferably with aerostat systems, sensors, and payloads.
  • Experience in test automation, result analysis, design reviews, and providing customer-centric input.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work with diverse disciplines and varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Participation in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution.
  • Understanding of Army acquisition processes and lifecycle support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work on Army acquisition programs or similar DoD initiatives involving Aerostat systems.
  • Experience with large weapons systems and command and control platforms.
  • Familiarity with network topologies for validating functionality, performance, stability, and scalability of Aerostat systems.
  • Integration, test, verification, and validation expertise with Aerostat components.
  • Familiarity with cloud and edge computing and networks as they pertain to Aerostat systems.
  • Understanding of the design and deployment of Aerostat-related network systems.

Clearance: Active Secret clearance required.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of relevant experience required. Eight (8) years of military and/or relevant experience in lieu of education is acceptable.

Travel: Up to 25% travel expected for this position.
