Electrical Commissioning Engineer - Onsite Role
This position involves collaborating with a prominent provider of mission-critical data center solutions. This organization specializes in delivering tailored data center services that meet the specific needs of their clients' essential operational facilities. They ensure the reliability of critical infrastructures for numerous leading enterprises and hyperscale organizations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in daily commissioning activities, which encompass:
  • Preparation of equipment pre-start-up and start-up protocols; Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive commissioning documentation
  • Formulate commissioning test protocols and reports; Maintain detailed commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tracking tools for commissioning projects; Draft thorough reports that include sections on recommendations for optimizing operational efficiency, functional checklists, and lists of deficiencies
  • Analyze design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submissions, and other relevant documentation
  • Conduct integrated system testing; Load Bank Testing; Compile results from all testing procedures
  • Design and implement functional tests for various systems, including electrical distribution networks, UPS, standby generators, etc.
  • Oversee system assembly; Prepare commissioning plans; Adhere to company quality control processes and procedures
  • Assist in managing external resources; Schedule and lead periodic commissioning meetings; Participate in construction and coordination meetings as necessary
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, and owners' representatives as required; Execute project tasks; Interact with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; Coordinate with various departments within the company: engineering, design, etc.
  • Verify outcomes of test reports; Support field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as necessary; Possess field experience with Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related testing equipment

Qualifications:

  • 4-10+ years of experience with Electrical Power Systems
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering is advantageous
  • Experience in commissioning enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, and hyperscale companies
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Experience in complex facilities or mission-critical projects is a significant advantage
  • Prior experience in Data Center / Mission Critical environments is essential
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required (this role involves substantial documentation and client interaction)
  • Experience in electrical equipment testing within critical facilities
  • Previous involvement in Level 1-5 Commissioning
  • Basic understanding of systems design for various projects
  • Experience in the military or as a military veteran is highly regarded; familiarity with Electrical / Mechanical systems is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project
