POSITION SUMMARY


The Pet Brand Sales Manager will oversee field merchandising and lead the Pet Detective team within the Pet Specialty sector.

The primary objective is to drive Blue Buffalo's growth by achieving or surpassing business targets in the Pet Specialty channel through effective customer engagement, educating retail partners, implementing merchandising strategies, and utilizing the Pet Detective team.

The Pet Detectives serve as BLUE's brand representatives, enhancing the in-store experience for pet owners and increasing the number of pets consuming Blue Buffalo products.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SALES EXPERTISE & INFLUENTIAL COMMUNICATION

Enhance BLUE's market presence by applying merchandising strategies in designated Pet Specialty accounts.

Comprehend BLUE's product offerings, categories, and brand positioning to effectively influence business priorities.

Establish and nurture relationships with store managers as the primary liaison.

Conduct performance reviews with clients to assess sales outcomes and pinpoint future growth opportunities.

Deliver educational sessions on Blue Buffalo products to retail partners to enhance their knowledge and recommendations to pet owners.

Utilize Salesforce for daily activity tracking.

TEAM LEADERSHIP
Inspire, guide, and develop a team of approximately 20 to 25 Pet Detectives to attract and retain Blue Buffalo customers.
Engage in proactive recruitment to identify PD talent in emerging markets.

Conduct final interviews and select new PDs in accordance with company hiring standards.

Oversee the onboarding and training process for new PDs.

Educate PDs on new product launches, packaging updates, and marketing initiatives.

Identify growth opportunities through performance analysis, reporting, and coaching of PDs.

Exemplify BLUE leadership qualities to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace and foster a culture of continuous learning.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Maintain comprehensive and precise records, including timely updates on results, progress, current conditions, and requirements to your supervisor.

Coordinate and communicate territory routes and PD schedules to stimulate incremental growth.

Approve payroll on a weekly basis with accuracy.

Manage payroll, sample distribution, and travel budgets for the assigned region.

Take personal responsibility for outcomes and develop a deep understanding of customer needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must reside within the designated geography of Fort Lauderdale, FL

Willingness to travel daily, with the ability to drive up to 4 hours or more per day, including 20% overnight travel

2+ years of relevant or transferable experience

Ability to adapt to and learn new technologies and tools

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to facilitate presentations

Capability to lead and provide clear guidance to a team

Availability to work a Thursday-Monday schedule

Authorization to work in the United States, valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 20 pounds, adhering to appropriate lifting techniques and safety protocols

Extended periods of walking, standing, and occasional climbing of ladders within retail aisles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Passionate about pets and knowledgeable about Blue Buffalo products

Previous experience utilizing internal or external data sources (e.g., Tableau, CRM)

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

ADDITIONAL NOTES
This position is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL

International relocation or remote working arrangements outside of the United States will not be considered.
