Job Summary

The Childcare Site Supervisor – Group Leader is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of an assigned site.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program Delivery: Deliver the program in a positive environment of safety, support, and care in keeping with Child Care Programs purpose; alert Program Director and/or Assistant Program Director when problems arise.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all state licensing regulations, Department of Public Instruction guidelines, and Young Star; complete Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Training as needed; follow mandatory child abuse reporting laws and complete training every 2 years.
  3. Child Safety and Well-being: Take attendance daily and know the whereabouts of all children at all times.
  4. Behavioral Guidance: Set clear rules and expectations to keep children safe and to help guide behavior.
  5. Child File Management: Be familiar with all information in a child's file.
  6. Program Environment: Make sure program space is safe, clean, and comfortable for active and quiet needs; set up program room incorporating at least 5 distinguishable interest areas.
  7. Communication: Follow through with requests and information from support staff listed in meeting notes, stated in voicemail, or any other form of communication.
  8. Site Management: Check site voice mail every morning and afternoon. Record messages in communication log book received directly from a parent or retrieved from voicemail. If there are no messages in voicemail, write the date, am or pm, and no messages.
  9. Mail and Communication: Check YWCA and school mailboxes for information.
  10. Community Engagement: Initiate and maintain communication with school personnel, especially principals and custodial staff.
  11. Parent and Child Interaction: Greet parents and children daily.
  12. Information Distribution: Distribute information to parents as needed; post information at parent table as it becomes available.
  13. Program Development: Create an environment that supports a wide range of activities and interests.
  14. Child Development: Supervise and interact with children to help them develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
  15. Child Guidance Policy: Ensure Child Guidance policy is properly maintained.
  16. Snack Management: Record snack counts and items served daily and make menu changes when necessary.
  17. Attendance Management: Keep accurate records of children's attendance.
  18. Financial Management: Date and initial schedules and amount paid.
  19. Drill Management: Record monthly drills.
  20. Record Keeping: Ensure all paperwork and record keeping materials are on site during program hours.
  21. Site Operations: Responsible for opening and closing the site.
  22. Supply Management: Pick up snack cooler on the first day of the work week and any additional snack items during the week as requested. Return site cooler on requested day.
  23. Supply Inventory: Inform Assistant Program Director Snack and Supply when you receive more or less snacks than required for your site.
  24. Supply Procurement: Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies at the site (cups, bowls, plates, silverware, paper towels, food storage bags, blank schedules, table sanitizer, etc).
  25. Professional Development: Attend staff, departmental, and other YWCA meetings as assigned.
  26. Organizational Knowledge: Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission, and programs.
  27. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent; advanced degree in Early Childhood, CDA, Elementary Education, or related degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years' experience and educational background in group activities and planning daily programs.
  • Licensing and Certification: Ability to meet Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services licensing requirements.
  • CPR and AED Certification: Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Registry Level: Registry level 10 with 6 of the credits being in supervision/personal management or financial management course work for Site Supervision; Registry Level 7 or Higher for Group Leadership.
  • Child Development Knowledge: Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented with good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm, and approachable.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
  • Good Judgment: Good judgment when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.
