This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Sterling Engineering as a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in linear motion design. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing innovative laboratory instruments for scientific research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, scientists, and suppliers to design and maintain new and existing devices, including mechanical and electromechanical products.
- Apply advanced mechanical engineering concepts and processes to develop and maintain all product lines.
- Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations to bring products to market.
- Contribute to the development of new concepts and ideas, and participate in the improvement of operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related design engineering field.
- 5+ years of professional work experience as a mechanical engineer.
- Proven experience with linear motion, multi-axis, lead screw mechanisms, gantry systems, or related motion system design.
- Proficiency in Solidworks or another 3D CAD design package.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with machining processes.
- Knowledge of different materials (metals, plastics, etc.).
