Key Responsibilities
  • Intervention and Prevention: Intervene in situations where unsafe activities or operations are being carried out by employees within the workplace, and take proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of our organization's safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on regulatory requirements and best safety practices, and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Accident Investigation and Analysis: Assist leadership in the process of accident investigation and analysis, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and recommend corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Training and Development: Develop, implement, and conduct environmental, health, and safety trainings as needed, ensuring that employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Auditing and Compliance: Perform evaluations and audits of environmental, health, and safety policies, methods, and programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Course Administration: Assign safety courses within our Learning Management System (LMS) and audit for completion accuracy.
  • Environmental Activities: Perform environmental-related activities to ensure compliance, including audits, monitoring, and sampling.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety and environmental information to staff.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate good interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating Abilities: Possess high standards of coordinating abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Leadership Skills: Display good leadership skills to motivate and guide employees in achieving safety and environmental goals.
  • Observation and Proactivity: Be observant and proactive in identifying and addressing workplace safety and environmental hazards.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Be willing to work as part of a team or lead a team as needed, and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Off-Site Work: Be willing to work off-shift on occasion for training, auditing, or investigation purposes.
  • Education and Certification: Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree or technical training in a safety-related field, and relevant safety certification.
  • Technical Skills: Have general knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
