Role Summary

The role of the Maintenance Technician demands a proficient level of mechanical, electrical, and systems troubleshooting expertise. The Technician will engage in repairs and preventive maintenance of heavy industrial machinery and equipment, either on-site or in collaboration with the plant electrician. Adherence to safety regulations and commitment to safe operational practices is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control systems to address software, hardware, and configuration issues.
  • Identify and procure necessary parts, supplies, and repair items.
  • Execute tasks safely while strictly observing all safety and health protocols.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections and Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and communicate updates with relief operators.
  • Report any unsafe mechanical conditions to the supervising personnel.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations regarding mine transportation as per MSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks, including the removal of waste sand accumulation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education and experience sufficient to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on systems and heavy equipment.
  • Proficient in completing written documentation and maintaining records.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to perform fundamental mathematical calculations and utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Mid to expert level maintenance skills for inspecting and repairing equipment, including coordination with electrical specialists.
  • Ability to apply extensive knowledge to diverse situations and recommend solutions to complex challenges.
  • Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a high degree of self-motivation and minimal supervision required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Capability to wear personal protective equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US and be at least 18 years old.
