Role Overview:

The STEM Education Support Specialist will collaborate closely with the division leadership and the middle school teaching staff. Responsibilities include assisting in curriculum implementation, supervising students, and maintaining a conducive classroom environment. The role involves:

  • Regular communication with teaching teams regarding classroom dynamics, student objectives, and planning.
  • Supporting instructional strategies that align with the school's educational philosophy.
  • Accompanying students during off-campus activities.
  • Addressing any student concerns promptly with the appropriate staff.
  • Facilitating small group and individual learning sessions.
  • Assuming short-term substitute teaching responsibilities as needed.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks and classroom preparations.
  • Monitoring student behavior and adhering to school policies.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge in science, particularly middle school physical science, biology, and chemistry.
  • Mathematical proficiency up to high school geometry.
  • Familiarity with coding and educational technology is advantageous.
  • A passion for working with children aged 3-14 and effective communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates should be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Navigate school facilities comfortably.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for benefits. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
