Job Summary

The Mental Health Specialist II plays a critical role in promoting student learning by supporting the mental health and well-being of all students. This position is responsible for developing and implementing school-based mental health supports, identifying at-risk students and families, and providing programs and interventions to help them overcome behavioral and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement school-based mental health programs and interventions
  • Identify and support at-risk students and families
  • Collaborate with district, school site, and community-based organizations to provide comprehensive support services
  • Provide training and supervision to staff and interns
  • Manage and coordinate mental health services and programs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field, with a California Board of Behavioral Sciences License. A minimum of two years of experience in program supervision, employee/intern supervision, and/or case management services is also required. Experience working with at-risk students and families, as well as people from diverse economic, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, is highly valued.

Preferred Qualifications

An Administrative Services Credential and/or Pupil Personnel Services Credential is preferred. A valid California driver's license, personal automobile, and proof of insurance are also required. Possession of a valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences licensure or intern registration is strongly preferred.
