Job Title: Mid-Level Provider NP/PA, Harris County Public Health

Harris County Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Provider NP/PA to join our team in the Community Health and Wellness Division. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and services to our community.

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Provider will work under the supervision of the Community Health and Wellness Division Clinical Lead and medical oversight by the CHWD Supervising Physician. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care in accordance with the Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, Nursing practice act, and Harris County Public Health procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct patient care in accordance with the Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, Nursing practice act, and Harris County Public Health procedures and protocols.
  • Completes and reviews health histories, performs physical examinations, and reviews and orders appropriate laboratory tests and immunizations.
  • Orders and monitors prescribed medication in accordance with Pharmacy D regulations.
  • Makes patient referrals for care to the clinic nurse, or community agencies, as appropriate.
  • Uses Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) expertise to serve as a mentor and resource person to all clinical staff.
  • Seeks to assure that policies and procedures are followed for care and operations.
  • Assists with training new clinical staff and the development of process improvement.
  • Attends and actively participates in clinical provider meetings, and all staff meetings.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree as an Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or as an Advanced Practice Provider - Physician Assistant.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an out-patient clinical setting.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certified (AHA Approved).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified.
  • Preferred Experience working in family planning medical clinics.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional clinic environment, community setting, and occupationally a medical mobile unit.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
