Mid-Level Provider Opportunity at Harris County Public Health

About the Role:

Harris County Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Provider to join our team at the Sheldon Health Hub. As a Mid-Level Provider, you will work under the supervision of the Community Health and Wellness Division (CHWD) Clinical Lead and medical oversight by the CHWD Supervising Physician. Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive medical care to patients receiving family planning services in our Clinical Health Services (CHS) division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, Nursing practice act, and Harris County Public Health (HCPH) procedures and protocols.
  • Complete and review health histories, perform physical examinations, and review and order appropriate laboratory tests and immunizations.
  • Order and monitor prescribed medication in accordance with Pharmacy D regulations.
  • Makes patient referrals for care to the clinic nurse, or community agencies, as appropriate.
  • Use Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) expertise to serve as a mentor and resource person to all clinical staff.
  • Assist with training new clinical staff and the development of process improvement.
  • Attend and actively participate in clinical provider meetings, and all staff meetings.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree as an Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or as an Advanced Practice Provider - Physician Assistant.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an out-patient clinical setting.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certified (AHA Approved).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified.
  • Preferred Experience working in family planning medical clinics.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional clinic environment, community setting, and occupationally a medical mobile unit.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Work Location:

  • 8540 C.E. King Parkway, Houston, TX 77044.
  • Training would take place around HCPH clinics in Harris County Jurisdiction.
