Job Summary

The Security Officer is a vital member of the Covenant HealthCare team, responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, guests, and staff. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the physical safety of patients, guests, and staff on the premises, adhering to established safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and assist with safety and security programs, including fire drills, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Investigate incidents involving security of the facilities, utilizing good oral, written, and observation skills.
  • Provide motorist assists, following established guidelines.
  • Handle unruly customers from diverse backgrounds and personalities, utilizing positive outcomes and de-escalation techniques.
  • Transport patients, visitors, employees, and Covenant HealthCare property, ensuring proper admittance and release of deceased bodies.
  • Treat every individual based on their age-specific needs.
  • Complete annual certification training in Safe Drive, OC/Pepper Spray, Violent Patient Management, Defensive Tactics, and Crisis Prevention Intervention.
Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in a security-related field.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Higher education in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or Security is encouraged.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's license and a driving record that allows Covenant HealthCare's auto insurance carrier to provide insurance coverage.
  • CPR Certification is encouraged.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Constant hearing and visual accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, and talking.
  • Occasional lifting up to 100 or more lbs.
  • Occasional reclining and carrying.
