Overview:
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering fundamental patient assistance under the supervision of nursing personnel, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.

Our specialized unit focuses on providing exceptional care for individuals recovering from cardiac surgeries, including but not limited to, open heart procedures, valve replacements, and other significant cardiothoracic interventions.

We cater to a diverse range of patients, including those with primary cardiac conditions requiring telemetry monitoring and critical cardiac interventions.

Our team is trained to identify potential medical concerns proactively, allowing for swift and effective responses to urgent situations.

Opportunities for skill development include patient assessments, education for patients and families, IV administration, wound management, and medication oversight. Our nurse-to-patient ratio averages between 1:3 to 1:6, tailored to the specific needs of our patients.

Our unit is consistently busy, providing a dynamic work environment where staff are rarely rescheduled.

We prioritize flexible scheduling options and foster a collaborative team atmosphere.

Communication and teamwork are encouraged, creating a fulfilling experience for both healthcare professionals and the patients we serve.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and assist with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Provide nutritional support by feeding patients and accurately documenting their intake.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature and blood pressure, and promptly report any changes to nursing staff.
  • Support medical staff during procedures and assist with wound care.

Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. B. Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous. C.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory. Work Schedule: 6AM - 6PM, 12-hour shifts.
