Elevator Mechanic Leader

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Facility Operations Division, Elevator Branch. The selectee will serve as an Elevator Mechanic (Electronics) Leader.
Key Responsibilities- Pass on instructions from supervisors to other workers and get work started by distributing tasks to individual members of the work group.
- Work alongside other workers and set the pace, demonstrating proper work methods.
- Ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and obtain necessary materials.
- Maintain current knowledge on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
- Check work in progress and when finished to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been followed.
- Report to supervisors on status and progress of work and causes of work delays.
- Interpret, diagnose, and respond to elevator operational problems, including power buildup problems in multi-voltage generator systems.
- Apply trade knowledge of control circuits and utilize test procedures and oscilloscope, signal generator, recording meter, event recorder, or thermograph instruments to test live circuits and components.
- Read and respond to mechanical information from engineering and inspection reports.
- Adjust complex operational systems, including new data transmission systems with analog-to-digital converters.
- Troubleshoot electronic systems for errors and communicate with engineers and manufacturer's representatives to examine, adjust, and develop changes to equipment.
- Ability to lead people in the performance of Elevator Mechanic (Electronic) work.
- Ability to interpret instructions and follow procedures.
- Knowledge of elevator systems and services, including technical practices and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
