Inclusive Education Specialist

Harvest Outreach Center is looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support our mission of providing quality education to students with disabilities. The ideal candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with a specialization in Special Education. We welcome applicants who hold a Provisional License through the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the unique needs of children with disabilities and how these needs impact instructional strategies. Familiarity with resources and methodologies to adapt the curriculum effectively is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all regulations and policies governing special education practices.
- Ensure the confidentiality of student information is maintained at all times.
- Utilize diverse instructional techniques to teach academic subjects.
- Instruct students in socially acceptable behaviors as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Adjust the general education curriculum to accommodate the specific needs of students.
- Select and utilize appropriate assessment tools, and interpret results for parents and other educational professionals.
- Establish clear behavioral expectations and procedures to foster a positive learning environment.
- Engage with parents to discuss student progress and identify individual priorities.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, administrators, and specialists, to create effective IEPs that support the educational, physical, and social/emotional growth of students.
- Set clear educational objectives and develop lesson plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student performance.
- Design communication plans to monitor student progress effectively.
- Participate as a member of a collaborative team.
- Commit to ongoing professional development to stay informed about advancements in special education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration.
