Family Services Specialist I

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist I to join our team. This is an entry-level position that requires close supervision while being trained in various program areas.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine casework activities, including home visits, field visits, and court appearances.
- Presents cases to various teams for services and coordinates with other agencies to provide services to customers.
- Interview and assess customer needs, including education, skill levels, abilities, interests, and support systems.
- Develop and implement service plans to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to clients.
- Monitor, coordinate, and administer services programs regarding various program areas.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams for service delivery options and serve as a resource to clients and the community.
- Write and implement service plans, track expenditures, and ensure payment for services.
- Participate in and complete training and professional development, including all county mandated training events.
- Provide emergency shelter duty in times of emergencies and natural disasters.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
- Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
This position requires travel to client homes, court appearances, and other off-site locations, both during and after regular work hours. The position also requires being a professional with a positive attitude and a team player with an ongoing working relationship within the agency and community.
