We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate Entomology Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Entomology and Insect Ecology and Management Program at Kentucky State University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field experiments and assist in laboratory and greenhouse experiments.
  • Design and maintain demonstration plots at collaborator farms.
  • Maintain and manage experiments, including plot preparation and data collection.
  • Analyze data and develop manuscripts for publication.
  • Train and mentor research assistants and students.
  • Conduct informational talks and tours at events.
  • Conduct laboratory research on attractancy of plants to insects.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency with microscopes and ability to identify insects and plants.
  • Knowledge of office and statistical software applications.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Research abilities and familiarity with USDA programs.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge of farming practices is desirable.
Working Conditions:
  • Field-based research work, ability to carry at least 40 lbs.
  • Travel to scientific meetings and collaborator farms.
