Job Title: Video Communications Specialist

The Legislative Research Commission is seeking a highly skilled Video Communications Specialist to join our team in the Public Information Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality video content to support the Kentucky General Assembly.

Job Summary:

This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits, including health and life insurance, retirement plan, and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legislative process, excellent research skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Record and archive chamber proceedings and committee meetings covered by Kentucky Educational Television.
  • Copy and distribute videos upon request.
  • Serve as backup photographer as needed.
  • Manage video equipment, including all equipment in the LRC video studio.
  • Make purchase requests for video equipment.
  • Oversee and produce live video feeds for news programs.
  • Oversee and produce live streams for social media.
  • Record public service announcements upon request.
  • Create and maintain General Assembly's video archives.
  • Create and edit documentary-style videos.
  • Produce videos of panel discussions.
  • Write video scripts and record voice overs.
  • Manage the LRC YouTube channel.
  • Troubleshoot video and technical problems throughout the agency as needed.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to questions about General Assembly matters.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in journalism, public relations, communications field, or a relevant field.
  • Five years of professional experience in high-quality video production.
