Field Sales Representative for Food Services

Position Overview
Gordon Food Service has been a leader in the food distribution industry for over 120 years, dedicated to providing exceptional service and high-quality products to our clients. As the largest family-operated broadline food distribution company in North America, we pride ourselves on our commitment to our customers.
As a Field Sales Representative, you will be instrumental in building relationships, generating new business opportunities, and delivering innovative solutions to our clients, thereby achieving mutual success.
Key Responsibilities
This role involves:
- Acquiring New Clients:
- Analyzing market trends that affect the food service industry.
- Identifying potential clients within your designated area.
- Creating and presenting tailored sales strategies that showcase the products and services offered by Gordon Food Service.
- Enhancing Existing Client Relationships:
- Conducting regular visits to clients to maintain and strengthen relationships.
- Performing business reviews to assess client needs and identify growth opportunities.
- Providing ongoing training on our product offerings to ensure clients are well-informed.
- Spotting areas where Gordon Food Service can deliver additional value to existing clients.
- Managing Sales Territory:
- Balancing the acquisition of new clients with the nurturing of existing relationships.
- Coordinating client visits effectively.
- Keeping clients updated on order statuses and processing timelines.
Training and Development
During your initial 90 days, we are committed to your success through comprehensive training programs, including e-learning, classroom instruction, role-playing scenarios, job shadowing, and mentorship from experienced sales representatives. You will gain insights into:
- Utilizing Gordon Food Service systems and tools for effective customer relationship management.
- Understanding our product range and offerings.
- Mastering the sales process for engaging new clients.
- Building a network of resources available to you as a sales representative.
- Best practices for developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Strategies for effective territory management.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree or culinary certification is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience in sales, business, or food service is necessary.
- A valid state driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
- Ability to obtain food safety certification.
