Job Summary

The State of North Carolina is seeking a highly skilled Revenue Officer I to join our team in the Department of Revenue. As a key member of our team, you will provide professional assistance to taxpayers, answer technical tax law questions, and resolve relevant issues to ensure compliance with state revenue laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist taxpayers and their representatives to determine tax liabilities and educate the public on state tax matters
  • Adjust accounts based on research or documents provided by taxpayers
  • Communicate with taxpayers via telephone to assist and resolve routine matters and special projects related to tax liabilities, issues, or questions
  • Utilize legal remedies to collect liabilities or secure returns
  • Work independently to examine, research, verify, and evaluate financial statements, returns, and other data
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid driver's license required for this position
  • Ability to prioritize, communicate effectively, work independently, and deal with conflict in a professional manner
