Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, collecting and analyzing colloquialisms and slang terms, and extracting pertinent information for law enforcement purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as required.
  • Relate all pertinent information to the client during live projects.
  • Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization.
  • Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
  • Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
  • Use various reference tools created during the project.
  • Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment.
  • Maintain a daily log of productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years' experience in a professional setting, or Associate degree and five years' experience, or High School Diploma and seven years' experience.
  • Minimum of one year of transcription experience in the required language.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Successful passing of a background investigation, medical, and drug screen.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet stringent deadlines.

Security Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Favorable credit check for all cleared positions.
  • Successful passing of a background investigation, medical, and drug screen.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees.
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time.
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time.
  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type, and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
  • Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time while monitoring live or taped calls.
