Job Title: Recreation Leader

Gateway Special Recreation Association is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader to assist in organizing special events, after-school programs, child development, and fitness programs for individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct service and support to children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.
  • Report to the Program Coordinator for each recreation program.
  • Work weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekend days and evenings.
  • Engage participants in various activities to enhance leisure and social skills.
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating environment for program participants.
  • Uphold the mission and values of the Association.

Requirements:

  • Prefer 2-5 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a recreation, community agency, school, or employment setting.
  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license (for staff 21 years of age and over).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clear CHIRP and CANTS background checks.
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals up to 75 lbs.
  • Positive and upbeat personality.

Work Schedule: Part-time position with work on evenings and weekends.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour.
