Position Overview:

We are seeking an entry-level candidate eager to embark on a career in the construction sector. This role involves supporting both onsite and office personnel with various tasks to facilitate ongoing construction initiatives and potential new projects. You will collaborate with notable clients in the industry. The position requires travel to job sites throughout the region, with the majority of your time spent in the Madison, New Jersey, or New York City office.

AMA Design Build (AMADB) is a comprehensive construction management firm established in 2004, originating from its parent company, AMA Group, a leader in the design of MEP/FP building systems for media, broadcast, and production facilities. Our portfolio includes over 1000 completed projects, serving a diverse range of corporate, financial, educational, and residential clients. With a team of over 225 dedicated professionals, we have expanded our services across multiple national offices.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, you will assist Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimators with their daily responsibilities while also managing your own tasks that require regular attention across various projects. Your duties will include:

  • Establishing site safety and office setup to ensure readiness for construction, including logistics planning, material handling, safety requirements, and emergency protocols.
  • Completing required OSHA training to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Reviewing and comprehending project schedules, assisting in their maintenance.
  • Learning and utilizing Procore Construction software to perform tasks such as:

i. Creating project directories. ii. Submitting Requests for Information (RFIs). iii. Processing Submittals and Shop Drawings. iv. Generating daily job site reports. v. Tracking changes in project scope.

  • Assisting with subcontractor communications and safety requirements.
  • Printing and displaying necessary OSHA/Safety signage on active job sites.
  • Participating in weekly project meetings and documenting minutes.
  • Managing onsite labor staff and recording timesheets.
  • Providing daily support for Superintendents during their absences.
  • Assisting with project close-out documentation.
  • Supporting Estimators in creating and distributing Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Following up with subcontractors to ensure timely proposal submissions.
  • Understanding company insurance and contract stipulations.
  • Assisting the accounting team with insurance compliance reviews.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • This is an entry-level position; no prior experience is required, though internship experience in the Engineering or Construction field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Project Suite is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary.

Salary: Starting at $72,000

Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, role duration, internal salary benchmarks, performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include performance-linked incentives.
