Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Engineer to join our team at Geosyntec Consultants. As a key member of our Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) practice, you will apply your expertise to projects involving dams, dikes, earth retaining structures, landfills, coal combustion residual impoundments, active construction sites, landslides, and other civil and geotechnical projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct geotechnical and environmental field investigations to gather data and insights.
- Design, install, and manage I&M systems, including instruments, data loggers, and telemetry, to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
- Develop and implement data management solutions to store, analyze, and visualize data.
- Evaluate instrumentation data and provide recommendations based on measurements to inform project decisions.
- Manage long-term I&M projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Perform engineering calculations and review data using traditional or computer-based technical tools to support project deliverables.
- Support design, permitting, and construction quality assurance for various non-I&M projects, such as waste containment systems, dams, environmental remediation, earthquake engineering, and offshore structures.
- Review and interpret geotechnical data, including boring logs and laboratory test results, to inform project decisions.
- Develop construction documents, including specifications, drawings, and work plans, to ensure project execution.
- Prepare and review I&M and engineering reports to communicate project findings and recommendations.
- Support proposal preparation, project management, and business development efforts to drive growth and success.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required).
- Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering (preferred).
- Professional registration (e.g., P.E., P.G.) (preferred).
- At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
- Experience with I&M tools, such as inclinometers, SAAs, vibrating wire instruments, data loggers, cellular modems, and data management tools (preferred).
- Regular fieldwork and overnight travel (required).
- Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
