Austin, Texas, United States Farm Credit Full time

Job Overview:

About Us:

Farm Credit Bank of Texas is a prominent wholesale financial institution dedicated to supporting agriculture and rural communities for over a century.

Located in Austin, Texas, we offer financial solutions and services to rural lending associations across multiple states, actively participating in national capital markets.

Although our name may not be widely recognized, Farm Credit Bank of Texas plays a vital role in ensuring the availability of affordable and safe food supplies, contributing to one of the most dynamic and innovative industries today.

As you help us fulfill our mission, we are committed to providing you with competitive pay, comprehensive health and wellness benefits, and a flexible hybrid work environment situated along the scenic Colorado River, just minutes from downtown Austin.

We actively seek top professionals across various fields, including technology, finance, accounting, credit, human resources, and other administrative roles, inviting you to join us in our mission to nourish the world.

Position Summary:
We are in search of a Senior Investment Analyst/Trader IV.

This position entails executing the buying and selling of securities under the guidance of a portfolio or trading manager.

The role involves conducting quantitative assessments of individual securities, industry sectors, or other potential investment avenues. You will monitor market dynamics, sector performance, and trading activity. Additionally, you will assist in formulating a trading strategy aimed at maximizing profitability while mitigating liquidity and interest rate risks. Identifying relative value opportunities that align with strategic business goals and portfolio strategies is essential. You will prepare reports detailing the regulatory and compliance qualifications of executed trades and analyze portfolio characteristics and performance, providing regular updates to management and the Asset Liability Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and evaluate financial data for assigned securities or sectors to support the development of investment strategies for one or more portfolios.
  • Collect and interpret financial metrics such as price, yield, and stability.
  • Monitor and report on current or anticipated financial performance, offering recommendations to enhance portfolio returns.
  • Keep abreast of macroeconomic conditions and communicate findings to management and the Finance division.
  • May provide mentorship to junior traders.

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate resides within a reasonable commuting distance from our Austin office and values the benefits of a hybrid work schedule.

This role encompasses a variety of skills.

A Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration with a concentration in finance, accounting, or banking is required, along with ten (10) or more years of experience in diverse institutional fixed-income securities and/or financial analysis.

An MBA or CFA designation is highly desirable.
You should possess expert knowledge of securities transactions.

Effective communication and coordination skills with all levels of management and external vendors are essential; the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality is crucial.

A moderate degree of creativity and independence is expected. You should be capable of working with minimal supervision and be open to moderate travel. Proficiency in oral and written communication is necessary, along with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with fixed income analytical tools such as Bloomberg, YieldBook, FactSet, or similar products is required. You should demonstrate analytical thinking and mathematical skills, along with a fundamental understanding of fixed income trade flow, including execution, settlement, accounting, and reporting. Familiarity with liquidity and cash flow forecasting and its impact on portfolio management decisions is important. The ability to work collaboratively within a team is essential. You may also coach or instruct junior colleagues and provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a subordinate group.

Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package focused on health and wellness, financial security, and work-life balance:

  • Flexible and affordable health and wellness benefits, including medical insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental insurance, vision care, and flexible spending accounts.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching (up to 4%) and additional employer contributions (up to 5%), both of which vest on the first day of employment.
  • Employer-paid long-term disability and life insurance.
  • Generous vacation leave, sick leave, and up to eleven paid holidays.
  • Paid parental leave program of up to six weeks.
  • Up to five days per year for volunteering in local community organizations, services, or events.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Generous tuition reimbursement program.
  • Physical fitness incentive plan.
  • Employer matching gifts program.
  • Modern hybrid work schedule combining in-office and remote work locations.

Our Culture:

In a world filled with unpredictable challenges, we invest in our people, ensuring they have stable careers with ample growth opportunities.

As part of the larger Farm Credit System, we prioritize building our culture around personal relationships and maintaining connections with leadership through in-person discussions, regular town halls, and employee engagement events.

We are deeply committed to attracting and nurturing a diverse workforce, promoting development and career advancement, and recognizing the contributions of individuals who drive our success.

Important Note:
We value your application process and take it seriously. A real person will review your applications, and response times may vary.

The interview process at Farm Credit Bank of Texas may include phone calls, emails, on-site interviews, and requests for portfolios or demonstrations of work.

While we cannot personally follow up with each applicant, we strive to create a professional, respectful, and thorough process for candidates who align with our needs.
