Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will manage general accounting functions and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing reconciliations and maintaining the trial balance
- Executing month-end close procedures
- Overseeing general accounting operations by validating financial transactions
- Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting.

Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and record recurring journal entries for month-end and year-end
- Generate accurate accounting reports and present findings
- Maintain the Fixed Asset System, including project management and reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports with variance analysis against budget and prior year
- Assist with year-end audits
- Manage prepaid and accrual schedules to ensure proper period recording
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Collaborate with various departments during financial closing periods
- Analyze, investigate, and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly and annual basis
- Provide assistance to plant and corporate staff on various ad-hoc projects as required
- Uphold company internal controls by adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Assist with tax audits and tax return preparations
- Plan, assign, and review the work of staff members
- Enhance systems and procedures, initiating corrective actions as necessary
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
- Meet financial accounting and corporate objectives
- Stay updated on job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional publications.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of 1-2 employees
- Develop and maintain departmental budgets, ensuring cost efficiency
- Recruit, select, orient, and train employees, fostering a safe and compliant work environment
- Communicate job expectations and assess job performance, providing coaching and counseling as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in handling large data sets
- Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of US GAAP
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, accounting software, and databases
- CPA certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements
This role requires sufficient physical ability to operate in a typical office environment, including:
- Frequent activities: sitting, neck flexion, fine finger dexterity, and moderate lifting (20-35 lbs.)
- Occasional activities: squatting, kneeling, and reaching at shoulder height.
