POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Parts Sales Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting customers with their parts needs, whether in person, via phone, or through the service department.

WORK SCHEDULE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Relevant experience or training preferred, but not mandatory
  • Basic computer skills are essential
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Completion of OSHA-approved forklift training is necessary

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are a plus
  • Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist certification is advantageous

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist customers in identifying and selecting the appropriate parts in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Inform customers about related parts and promotions, ensuring they are aware of the full range of products available.
  • Handle incoming calls, providing pricing information and other relevant details.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
  • Retrieve and prepare orders from inventory.
  • Communicate with the parts manager regarding any out-of-stock items or urgent shop supplies.
  • Source out-of-stock parts from external suppliers and place emergency orders when necessary.
  • Notify service advisors and customers when special orders arrive.
  • Follow up on any back-ordered items.
  • Support outside sales representatives with their requests.
  • Ensure all internal parts requests are accurately billed.
  • Process payments from retail customers or obtain necessary credit approvals.
  • Ensure all charge transactions are properly documented.
  • Provide customers with their invoices and manage returns effectively.
  • Maintain organized records of repair orders, invoices, and special orders.
  • Prepare orders for shipment, delivery, or customer pickup.
  • Conduct follow-ups with assigned accounts via phone.
  • Monitor open orders and manage inventory effectively.
  • Keep the parts counter area tidy and organized.
  • Regularly clean computer equipment and workstations.
  • Participate in available training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Stay updated on new products and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with the parts manager to track lost sales.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies to promote a safe working environment.
